The Students for National Means Cum-Merit Scholarship in Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). This National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme, it is purposed to award 10000 scholarship to the gifted or meritorious students whose parental income is not more that Rs. 15000/- per annum from all sources. Each State / UT (Union Territory) shall have fixed quota of scholarship which will be decided on the basis of enrollment of students in Class VIII (Class 8th) / IX (Class 9th) / X (Class 10th) / XI (Class 11th) / XIII (Class 12th).
Education Criteria -
The awardees should get clear promotion from Class VIII to Class IX for being eligible for starting the scholarship.
The Scholarship at the Secondary and Higher Secondary stage or equivalent Classes IX to XII is payable for a maximum period of four years for studies in India only.
No scholarship at this stage is payable for studying diploma or Certificate level course.
For Continuing the Scholarship in Class X to XII the awardees should get clear promotion from Class IX to X and from Class XI to XII in the first attempt with 55% marks or SC / ST Candidate for Relaxation of 5% Marks.
The awardees must obtain a minimum of 60% marks in Class X (Relaxation by 5% for SC / ST Category) examination or equivalent examination for continuation of the Scholarship at Higher Secondary stage.
In case an Institution does not conduct an examination at the end of Class IX and Class XI, the Scholarship for the second year will be continued on the submission of a certificate to this effect from the Head of the Institution.
Selection Process -
The Applicable Students for Selection Process of Two Stage (Mental Ability Test / Scholarship Aptitude Test) with Examination pattern of MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) in Means-cum-Merit Scholarship. Details description are given below.
Metal Ability Test (MAT) - Total of 90 Multiple choice questions testing verbal and non-cognitive abilities like reasoning and critical thinking. The question in the test may be on analogy, Classification, Numerical Series, Pattern Perception, Hidden Figures etc.
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) - Total of 90 Multiple Choice Question covering subjects Namely, Science, Social Studies and Mathematics as taught in Class VII and Class VIII.
This MAT and SAT each Test will be of 90 Minutes duration. Children with Disability will be given extra time, as applicable.
